Colours of Morris, a new wallpaper collection from Morris & Co., brings eleven of the brand’s best-loved designs back in a refined, contemporary palette, from Strawberry Thief and Willow Boughs to Golden Lily and Pimpernel. Goodrich Global now offers Colours of Morris in Singapore.

What Is Colours of Morris?

Colours of Morris is a curation of Morris & Co.’s most celebrated wallpapers, recoloured for today’s homes. The studio went back into the Morris & Co. archive to study original drawings and historic pigments, and used them to create new colourways that feel fresh while staying true to the originals.

The wallpapers are made at Morris & Co.’s historic British factory using traditional surface and surflex printing. These methods lay down a rich layer of ink and give each paper a hand-printed quality, in keeping with William Morris’s belief in beauty and usefulness.

Colours of Morris pairs archive designs with a contemporary palette.

The Eleven Designs

Strawberry Thief (1883): perhaps the most famous Morris design, inspired by the thrushes that stole fruit from his garden at Kelmscott Manor.

Willow Boughs (1887): intertwining stems and willow leaves, inspired by the willows along the River Thames.

Pimpernel (1876): large stylised tulips with smaller pimpernel flowers. William Morris chose it for his own dining room at Kelmscott Manor.

Golden Lily (1899): by J. H. Dearle, with entwined lily stems, tendrils and acanthus leaves. One of the most recognisable Morris & Co. designs.

Fruit (1864): originally called “Pomegranate”, one of Morris’s earliest wallpapers, with ripe pomegranates hanging from an overflowing tree.

Artichoke (1898): oversized, stylised artichoke blossoms and flowing foliage by J. H. Dearle.

Blackthorn (1892): a tapestry-like design of sloe blossom, violets, fritillaries and daisies with a mottled, woodblock look.

Double Boughs (1890): scrolling acanthus, carnations, thistles and chrysanthemums, with a beaded detail that adds a subtle shimmer.

Sunflower (1879): a central sunflower head with tulips, small flowers and grape vines.

Trellis (1862): by Philip Webb, with wild roses weaving through a garden trellis, small birds and insects.

Woodland Weeds (1905): an unusually symmetrical “millefleurs” design of many small flowers and plants, attributed to J. H. Dearle.

See every colourway on the Colours of Morris wallpaper page.

Bringing Morris Wallpaper into a Modern Singapore Home

Morris patterns are detailed and full of movement, and the new palette makes them easier to use in contemporary homes:

One feature wall: a single wall of Strawberry Thief or Golden Lily behind a sofa or bed gives a room character without overwhelming it. Keep the other walls in a plain colour taken from the paper.

Small rooms, big pattern: powder rooms, entryways and studies are good places to try an all-over Morris pattern. Small spaces can carry bold wallpaper surprisingly well.

Bedrooms and nurseries: softer designs such as Willow Boughs, Trellis or Woodland Weeds create a calm, garden-like feel.

Dining rooms: follow William Morris’s own lead and use Pimpernel, or choose Fruit for a rich, abundant look.

Morris & Co. also suggests coordinating fabrics for each design in its design book, so you can match curtains, cushions or upholstery to the wall. Our guides to floral wallpaper ideas and vintage wallpaper have more styling ideas.

Technical Details

All the designs in Colours of Morris are printed papers at 52 cm wide, with pattern repeats from about 46 cm to 64 cm. Most use a straight match; Artichoke and Trellis use a half-drop match. Larger repeats need a little more wallpaper to line up the pattern, so give your supplier accurate wall measurements.

Paper wallpapers need careful handling during installation. In Singapore’s humid climate, professional installation on a well-prepared, dry wall helps keep seams flat and the finish lasting. For wet or high-wear areas, ask our team about more durable wallcovering options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is William Morris wallpaper available in Singapore?

Yes.
