Miaja Art Gallery
Project Overview
Miaja Art Gallery is a Singapore gallery and design space where the interior must remain understated so that the artworks on display hold full visual attention. The fit-out called for a floor finish that would read as a quiet, neutral foundation while standing up to gallery footfall.
For this project, Goodrich Global supplied flooring for the gallery space.
Goodrich Specification
Flooring was specified to give the gallery a continuous, low-distraction surface that complements rather than competes with the exhibited works. A restrained, even floor lets colour and form on the walls take precedence, avoiding the visual noise a busier material might introduce into a curated setting. A hard-wearing commercial floor also suits a public-facing space that receives visitors, private viewings and event traffic, offering straightforward maintenance and a consistent appearance under the controlled, often directional lighting galleries rely on.
The floor’s durable, low-porosity surface resists scuffing and marking from footfall and the movement of plinths, equipment and seating during install and event changeovers. It cleans easily and holds its appearance over time, so the gallery can present a pristine, neutral backdrop for each new exhibition without the floor itself becoming a maintenance concern between shows.
Drawing the floor from a portfolio that spans luxury vinyl and other commercial systems also gave the gallery scope to select a tone and texture quiet enough to recede behind the work, while still meeting the performance a public venue requires.
Project Outcome
The finished floor provides a clean, considered backdrop that lets the collection take centre stage while remaining practical for daily use and frequent reconfiguration. The result is a quiet, dependable foundation matched to the gallery’s presentation standards. Goodrich Global’s flooring range, spanning luxury vinyl and other commercial systems, gives galleries, showrooms and cultural venues in Singapore durable surfaces matched to demanding presentation standards.
