Sultan Mosque
Project Overview
Sultan Mosque is one of Singapore’s most significant religious landmarks, a historic place of worship that welcomes large congregations as well as many visitors. Floor finishes in such a setting must be dignified, comfortable for prayer and able to withstand consistently heavy use throughout the day, while respecting the standing of the building.
Goodrich Global supplied a customised carpet for the project.
Goodrich Specification
A customised carpet was the right specification for a mosque, where the floor is integral to worship and the pattern, colour and prayer-row alignment can be tailored precisely to the space. Defined prayer lines woven into the design help worshippers form orderly rows, while a soft, dense pile provides a comfortable surface for kneeling and prostration during prayer, supporting worshippers through repeated movement.
For a venue of this importance, the carpet’s durability and acoustic absorption are equally valuable. A dense, hard-wearing construction stands up to continuous footfall from worshippers and visitors and resists matting over time, while the soft surface absorbs sound and helps manage reverberation across large prayer halls, supporting a calm and respectful atmosphere. A bespoke design also allows colours and motifs to harmonise with the mosque’s architecture and heritage. Tailoring the carpet to the exact dimensions of the prayer halls keeps the layout precise and the rows evenly spaced, so the floor reads as ordered and dignified across its full expanse.
Project Outcome
The bespoke carpet delivers a respectful, comfortable and hard-wearing floor suited to a major place of worship, balancing the practical demands of heavy daily use with the dignity and reverence the setting requires. Goodrich Global has extensive experience supplying customised carpet for institutional, religious and high-traffic public spaces across Singapore.
