Upholstery of chairs for Departure Transit TV lounge at Singapore Changi Airport, Terminal 3
Project Overview
This project covered the upholstery of chairs for the Departure Transit TV lounge at Singapore Changi Airport, Terminal 3. As a public seating area within one of the world’s busiest airports, the furniture must remain comfortable and presentable under continuous, round-the-clock use by transiting passengers from every corner of the world.
For this project, Goodrich Global supplied Zenus fabric from Concertex for the seat upholstery.
Goodrich Specification
Zenus from Concertex was specified as a high-performance contract upholstery fabric suited to demanding public environments. Such fabrics carry high abrasion ratings, resisting the rubbing, repeated seating and luggage contact that wear ordinary textiles, so the chairs keep their look through the relentless cycling of users a transit lounge sees around the clock.
Cleanability is equally critical in this setting: the fabric wipes down and resists staining, allowing the seating to be kept hygienic between flights, while a comfortable hand ensures passengers can genuinely rest during long layovers. Together these qualities support both presentation and long-term value in a continuously occupied space.
Project Outcome
The reupholstered seating offers passengers a comfortable, hygienic and presentable place to rest during transit, maintaining a well-kept appearance despite near-constant occupancy. Its durability extends the life of the furniture and reduces the frequency of refurbishment, supporting the airport’s high standards of service and upkeep.
Goodrich Global supplies contract upholstery fabric to airports, transport hubs and high-traffic public spaces across Singapore, with materials chosen for resilience and ease of maintenance and backed by specification support for demanding applications.
