Changi Airport Terminal 2, Transit Hotel (Mock Up Room), Singapore

Project Overview

This project involved a mock-up room for the Transit Hotel at Changi Airport Terminal 2 in Singapore, created to test and present the interior specification before a wider rollout across the hotel’s rooms. A prototype room lets the design team confirm both look and performance ahead of committing to a full programme, reducing the risk of costly changes once the wider works are under way.

Goodrich Global supplied Premierwall wallcovering for the project, providing wall finishes for the prototype room.

Goodrich Specification

The Premierwall wallcovering specified here is a commercial-grade vinyl surface well suited to a transit hotel where rooms turn over frequently and at all hours. It resists scuffing and handling marks from constant guest use, and its wipeable face allows quick cleaning between short stays, supporting the rapid-turnaround operating model an airport hotel depends on. The durable vinyl surface keeps each room presentable across countless brief occupancies.

Applying the wallcovering in a mock-up room lets the specification be evaluated for appearance and performance in situ, under realistic lighting and adjacencies. Consistent colour and texture give the team a clear, true-to-life preview of the finished room standard, allowing seams, joints and pattern alignment to be assessed before scale-up. Confirming the finish in a physical room also lets the operator weigh durability and maintenance against the look, de-risking the wider rollout. Approving the specification through a single agreed standard then keeps every room consistent at scale and simplifies future repairs, since matching material can be drawn from the same range.

Project Outcome

The mock-up room demonstrated a durable, easily maintained and well-presented room finish for the Terminal 2 Transit Hotel. Goodrich Global supplies wallcoverings to aviation and hospitality projects across Singapore, supporting both prototype evaluation and full-scale rollout with finishes built for demanding, high-turnover use.
