Project Overview
Ngee Ann Polytechnic is one of Singapore’s principal polytechnic institutions, operating across multiple academic schools and serving thousands of students daily. Polytechnic campus interiors face among the highest concentrated foot-traffic loads in Singapore commercial work, with period-change footfall, heavy bag traffic and continuous student movement through corridors and common areas.
Goodrich Global supplied fabric wall panels across acoustic and decorative wall positions on the campus.
Goodrich Specification
Fabric wall panels were specified for spaces with both acoustic and decorative requirements, typically auditoriums, lecture spaces and large meeting rooms where speech intelligibility and atmospheric comfort both matter. Lightweight fabric-backed panels absorb sound and tame the reverberation that hard, parallel surfaces generate in large rooms, lowering the background noise that erodes clarity and supporting clearer delivery to a full audience while contributing to the visual specification of the space.
Fire compliance, abrasion resistance and pattern range across the Goodrich fabric specification cover the requirements polytechnic public-assembly spaces typically face, balancing safety and durability against the demands of an institutional fit-out. The fabric specification coordinated with Ngee Ann’s broader interior design programme across multiple buildings, with consistent panel detailing and a coordinated colour palette tying the campus together, so the acoustic treatment also reinforces a unified visual identity across the schools. Wall-mounted panels are well placed for this work because they treat sound at the surfaces that surround an audience without consuming floor area, and they can be configured in different sizes and colourways to suit each room while still reading as one campus-wide scheme.
Project Outcome
The Ngee Ann Polytechnic fabric wall panel installation is in operational service. The project illustrates Goodrich’s capability to support polytechnic-grade interior specifications, with coordinated acoustic and decorative wall treatment delivered to a demanding institutional standard.
