Elderly Care Centre
Project Overview
Elderly care interiors operate at one of the most demanding intersections in healthcare specification, combining clinical hygiene, fall-prevention slip resistance, antimicrobial cleaning protocols and dementia-friendly design considerations within a residential-feeling visual brief. Singapore’s growing aged-care sector has driven specification standards higher across both new-build and adaptive-reuse projects.
Goodrich Global supplied antimicrobial flooring and wall protection specifications across the centre’s circulation and care zones.
Goodrich Specification
Antimicrobial vinyl flooring was specified for clinical and circulation zones, with appropriate slip-resistance ratings (DIN 51130 R10 minimum, R11 in wet zones), antimicrobial coating and seamless welded installation supporting the cleaning and hygiene protocols elderly care operations rely on. The welded detailing leaves no seams for moisture or contaminants to penetrate, while the slip ratings address the fall-prevention priority central to caring for less mobile residents. SGBC-certified products in the Goodrich range cover this specification breadth.
Wall protection was specified along bed-transit and equipment routes, where the wall surfaces in elderly care facilities take continuous trolley contact, mobility-aid impact and equipment movement. Korogard rigid sheet and complementary wall protection products absorb this impact load, shielding the substrate from damage while remaining visually appropriate to a residential-feeling care environment rather than reading as an overtly clinical fixture.
Coordinating flooring and wall protection through one supplier also helped the project team align colour and finish across the two systems, so the safety-led specification still presented as a warm, homely setting for residents.
Project Outcome
The Elderly Care Centre specification is in operational service. The project illustrates Goodrich’s capability to support Singapore’s aged-care sector with specifications that satisfy clinical, safety and patient-experience requirements together in a single integrated specification, easing procurement and coordination for the operator.
