- Install the underlay. Roll out the underlay sheets, butting edges together without overlapping. Tape the seams with aluminium foil tape to create a continuous moisture barrier.
- Start from the longest wall. Place spacers (8 mm to 10 mm) along the starting wall to maintain an expansion gap. Lay the first row with the tongue side facing the wall, clicking each plank’s short end into the preceding plank.
- Continue row by row. Angle each new plank’s long edge into the preceding row at approximately 20 degrees, then press down until it clicks flat. Use a tapping block and rubber mallet for tight fits — never strike the plank directly.
- Cut planks as needed. Measure and mark each cut, then score and snap vinyl planks using a straight edge and utility knife. For complex cuts around door frames and pipes, use a jigsaw or oscillating multi-tool.
- Finish the perimeter. Remove all spacers and install skirting boards or quarter-round moulding to conceal the expansion gaps. Do not pin the moulding through the vinyl floor — fix it to the wall only.
