Harlequin Ondara and Altura: Hand-Dyed Ombré Fabrics and Sheers
Ondara is a calm, quietly striking fabric collection from Harlequin for Autumn/Winter 2026. Inspired by the soft colours of a distant horizon, it uses a hand-pleated spray-dyeing technique to create a gentle double ombré that drifts across the cloth like a gradient sky. The collection includes a wide-width fabric for curtains and upholstery, plus two sheers for layered windows. Goodrich Global now offers Ondara in Singapore.
Inspired by the Horizon
The idea behind Ondara is to bring the calm of a far-off horizon indoors. Its palette is drawn from horizon lines, where land, sea and sky blur into one another. Harlequin wanted the fabrics to feel soothing and effortless, adding depth to a room without making it busy, and to mix easily with existing décor and other Harlequin designs.
That makes Ondara well suited to Singapore homes, where many people want a restful, uncluttered look that still has character.

How the Ombré Is Made
Each piece of Ondara is individually pleated and shaped by hand before any dye is applied. The fabric is then spray-dyed, so the colours bleed softly into one another. Because of the folds, the dye settles in a slightly different way each time, creating subtle tonal shifts that catch the light.
The result is a soft, undulating double ombré running horizontally across the fabric. Expect gentle natural variation, which is part of the appeal of a hand-finished textile rather than a flaw.
The Three Fabrics in the Collection
- Ondara: the core wide-width fabric in 100% cotton, with a high Martindale rub count. It is designed for sweeping drapery and heavy-duty upholstery, such as wrapping a structured armchair.
- Altura: a lighter sheer version, designed mainly for curtains. It diffuses daylight into a soft, hazy glow while carrying the ombré effect.
- Altura Plain: a coordinating plain sheer, intended to sit behind Altura for a double-sheer window treatment.

Styling Ondara in a Singapore Home
Layered sheers for bright windows
Singapore homes get strong daylight, especially on west-facing windows. Layering Altura in front of Altura Plain softens glare and adds privacy during the day while keeping rooms bright. Add a blackout or dimout curtain behind for bedrooms. Our sheer curtain guide explains how to balance light and privacy.
Floor-to-ceiling drapery
Because the ombré runs horizontally, full-height Ondara curtains create a band of colour that shifts as the fabric folds, a calm focal point for a living room with high ceilings or wide windows.
Statement upholstery
On a single armchair or a bench, Ondara’s gradient becomes a piece of art. Choose a simple, structured frame so the fabric does the talking, and pair it with plain or textured neutrals elsewhere.
Calm bedrooms
Use Ondara for curtains or a headboard in soft horizon tones, and keep the rest of the scheme quiet with natural linens and pale timber.
Practical Tips
- Allow for variation: because each piece is hand-pleated and spray-dyed, order enough fabric for the whole project at once.
- Check direction: confirm how the ombré should run on curtains and upholstery before cutting.
- Protect from sun: use a sheer or blind to protect upholstery and curtains from strong afternoon sun.
- Clean gently: vacuum lightly, blot spills promptly and follow the fabric care guide. Use professional cleaning for curtains and upholstery.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an ombré fabric?
An ombré fabric shades gradually from one colour or tone to another. Ondara is a double ombré, made by hand-pleating each piece before spray-dyeing, so the colours blend softly across the width of the fabric.
Can Ondara be used for upholstery?
Yes. The core Ondara fabric is 100% cotton with a high Martindale rub count and is designed for heavy-duty upholstery as well as drapery. Altura and Altura Plain are sheers, intended mainly for curtains.
How do I layer Altura and Altura Plain?
Hang Altura Plain on the track closest to the window and Altura in front of it. The plain sheer adds privacy and softens light, while the ombré sheer carries the colour.
