Omexco, a worldwide trendsetter of high-end wallcoverings, is leading the way as far as environmental care is concerned with its range of non-woven eco-friendly Wallcoverings
Many years ago, Omexco started reducing the environmental impact of its activities and preserving natural resources. For those efforts, Omexco was granted the following ecological labels and certificates:
For a healthier environment, Omexco contributes to the well-being by providing ecological wallcoverings. The International Association of Wallcovering manufacturers, IGI , has determined very strict standards concerning the presence of hazardous products in wallcoverings (heavy metal, formaldehyde, vinyl chloride). Omexco wallcoverings meet these standards set by IGI , and can therefore carry the IGI ecological label.
They have also obtained the FSC label (CUCOC-81 2488). FSC stands for “Forest Stewardship Council” which is a non-governmental and non-profit organization. I ts aim is to promote responsible . management of the forests on an international level by respecting strict criteria:
• The protection of the environment by maintaining the biodiversity and the productivity as well as the preservation of ecological process.
• Financial viability of this management Forests are important; they provide water, fresh air and fight against climate change. In addition, they provide food, medicine, wood and paper. Between the forest and the final user, products may undergo many stages of processing, manufacturing and distribution.
FSC certification traces the path of products from forests through the supply chain,
verifying that FSC-certified material is identified or kept separated from non-certified
material throughout the chain. Any company in this supply chain, including harvesters, processors, manufacturers, distributors, printers, or anyone who is taking ownership of the forest product before the end user, needs to be FSC certified to be able to label or promote the final product as FSC certified.
Use recycled fibres
Omexco favours suppliers who use recycled fibres. E.g. the polyester fibres of the non-woven wallcoverings are recycled. Thanks to the decrease in CO2 emission and in energy consumption, the impact on the environment is much lower compared to non-recycled fibres.
Printing thanks to solar energy
The utmost is done to contribute to the environment, on different levels. In 2010 were installed 1 ,242 sqm of photovoltaic solar panels. The electricity generated represents 50% of the annual electric consumption and helps us to save 1 00.000 kg of CO2 per year.
